Here are the haircuts that will define men's (and not only) styles in 2022

Our barbers have identified the haircuts that will define 2022 and which graced the runways of Milan Fashion Week. The protagonists are the great looks of the seventies and eighties, as well as natural curls and creative fades arriving directly from the fashion shows. The watchword: gender-fluid cuts.

With the arrival of 2022, the new hairstyle trends also arrive: cuts and looks to copy and try to stay up to date.

During Milan Fashion Week, our barbers identified the 5 haircuts that will characterize 2022, a year that, picking up the legacy of 2021, will be a true return to the future, bringing back the looks of the seventies and eighties, but transforming them with a modern touch and ever-increasing inclusivity, featuring bold cuts and plays on length.

Mullets, the return of the eighties

After making a statement in 2021 — aided by the change of look of Damiano David, frontman of Måneskin — the Mullet will also be a star of 2022. Born in the 80s, this unisex cut, short and neat in the front and sides and longer in the back, stands out for its original shape and creative style, which certainly doesn't go unnoticed. An extra touch of personality? A subtle fade or a neon tint on the tips to transform and enrich this extremely versatile cut.

Buzz Cuts Fade, straight from the runways

For the upcoming seasons, designers have opted for short, creative, and extremely groomed cuts, such as "buzz cuts," which involve extremely short hair all over the head. The extra touch comes with Buzz Cuts Fade, characterized by a fade that plays with light and shadow or a sharper definition. This cut requires a frequent appointment with the barber, but no work at home; also ideal for those with thinning hair who are looking for volume.

Bro Flow, elegant and suitable for any occasion

The Bro Flow look gets its name from the effect it gives to hair, which, after washing, is combed back and left to dry naturally to form soft waves that flow from the face toward the back of the head. Because of these characteristics, this elegant cut needs wavy, medium-long hair — just grazing the neck — but even those without naturally wavy hair can try to recreate it with the help of a sea salt spray or a texturizing product.

Natural curls, between definition and volume

And speaking of natural looks, curly hair will also be a major protagonist of 2022, and should be enhanced regardless of its length. To manage it at its best, it is advisable to use styling products on wet hair, preferably with the help of a wide-tooth comb or directly with your fingers to recreate the individual curls. For this hair type, it is also advisable to choose shampoos suitable for frequent washing to accompany a specific conditioner to ensure hydration and avoid frizz.

Shag, playing with lengths

The next big trend, both in men's and women's fashion, will be the Shag, a layered cut that plays with overlapping and irregular lengths created by multi-level layering: very thinned-out tips, volume concentrated in the center of the head, and light, thinned-out lengths. The cut, which also features an irregular and asymmetrical curtain fringe or equally layered long locks, is a true rockstar look.
