Barberino’s has also joined the #stayathome movement!
Let's take advantage of these days to spend time with our families and to achieve the goal that all men set for themselves at the end of the year: growing a beard! Even you must have thought, at least once in your life, about growing a beard, but for various reasons, you have never been able to. Here is some good news: this is the right time to give it a try!
Step 1: Have patience
Let your beard grow without fussing over it: growth speed varies from person to person, but our advice is to let it reach at least 2 cm before intervening. By letting it grow, you will also cover any less dense areas: many men complain about having a patchy beard when, in reality, these areas could fill in as the beard grows.
Step 2: Trim it
After at least two weeks, you can start making some touch-ups by shaping and defining it: you can use an electric or manual razor to shave the lower part of the neck, imagining drawing a horizontal line one finger above the Adam's apple; if necessary, you can also trim the upper part on the cheeks by drawing an oblique line between the end of the sideburn and the corner of the mouth. Use a specific beard brush every day to detangle knots and ensure the direction of the hair.
Step 3: Don't wash it with shower gel
The beard can accumulate dirt like food, pollen, and dust, thus becoming a breeding ground for bacteria that can cause infections. For this reason, it is important to wash it two or three times a week with a specific beard shampoo which, as a reminder, has a different pH than hair shampoo!
Step 4: Nourish it!
The beard needs to be nourished with specific products that must become part of your daily routine! Be consistent even at home. In the morning, milk and cookies and Barberino’s Argan Oil, which will make your beard shine and make you irresistible to your partner, in addition to acting as a “shield” or “protective film” against atmospheric agents like pollution and kitchen stove gases.
In the evening before going to bed, the Barberino’s Hydrating Beard Balm because it is non-greasy, penetrates deeply, and is easily absorbed without needing to be rinsed off; while you sleep, it will keep your beard and the skin underneath hydrated.
These are our expert barbers' tips for a “DIY” beard, the first steps to follow for those who want to try breaking the rules! Always remember that there are a few simple ingredients: willpower, consistency, and patience. In these days, even though our barbershops are closed, remember that our online shop is open every day with free shipping throughout Italy with no minimum order.
