6 post-summer grooming tips to rejuvenate your hair and beard
Here are the good habits to follow to get your hair back in shape after the summer

After the summer, between the sun, salt, and chlorine, hair and beards can appear dull, brittle, and damaged. With the change in temperature and lifestyle, natural hair shedding is often added to the mix.
To help men take care of their beards and hair, our Master Barbers Simone Forini and Ivan Consolo share 6 tips to regenerate your look after the summer: a mini guide to take action and have a shiny, soft, and healthy beard and hair heading into autumn.
1 - Get a trim

September is the best month to trim damaged beards and hair and help them grow back strong and healthy; a "health trim" that is a must after days spent in the sun and salt. Signs that it is time for a trim include split ends, roughness, frizz, and lack of shine: if your beard and hair look dull and don't seem to reflect light, it is necessary to intervene.
Barberino’s advice: our barbershops are open 7 days a week to try hot towel treatments and scalp massages with vibro-massagers for a more relaxed return to work.
2 - Green light for strengthening treatments

For those who took care of their beard and hair with moisturizing and protective products during the summer, a late-summer trim is not the only solution. In this case, a few strengthening treatments that combat shedding and restore softness and shine to the hair could be enough.
Barberino’s advice: to restore the hydrolipidic film damaged by the sun, the best ally is Argan oil. The ideal method is to massage it onto dry hair and beard, leave it on for at least 30 minutes, and then apply shampoo to the dry hair/beard, only emulsifying it with water afterward. Repeat 3 to 4 times a week.
3 - Choose your shampoo carefully

After the summer, it is a good rule to prefer a gentle shampoo with a strengthening and volumizing function, preferably with natural ingredients and minerals with a soothing effect that care for the hair and scalp without damaging it, while providing the nutrients necessary for maintaining the epidermal layer.
Barberino’s advice: selecting the most suitable shampoo for your needs, from one for frequent washing to an anti-hair loss version, is essential. The important thing is that it has a balanced pH, around 5-7; if it exceeds 10, the fiber is ruined and can suffer serious damage.
4 - Take care of your beard

Even when it comes to the beard, it is important not to leave anything to chance to avoid ending up with an unkempt, hard, and rough look. In addition to a professional approach, it is essential to take care of your look at home by following small habits such as specific washing every two or three days and using a brush once a day.
Barberino’s advice: beard pH is different from hair pH, so it is a good rule to use specific beard shampoo and conditioner. For a healthier and more well-groomed look, the best ally is a boar bristle brush to distribute its natural oil along the entire length and massage the skin with a scrub-like effect that helps remove dead skin.
5 - Avoid the hairdryer

To avoid further damage to hair already weakened by the summer, it is important to pay attention to drying: when wet, it is even more fragile and prone to breaking. If the weather permits, it is always better to air-dry rather than use a hairdryer, which, with its aggressive and unnatural heat, tends to dry out the hair.
Barberino’s advice: when a hairdryer is necessary, it is a good rule to keep it at least 15cm away, alternating between different temperature settings or trying to stay on a medium heat.
6 - A healthy lifestyle equals a healthy beard and hair

Beards and hair are affected by your lifestyle. Following a healthy and balanced diet, keeping the skin clean and hydrated, and getting enough sleep are all small steps that help grow a healthy, strong beard and hair while maintaining the health of the scalp.
