HAIR STYLING PASTES: HOW TO USE THEM

Here is some advice on how to style your hair and apply styling pastes
WHAT ARE STYLING PASTES?

Let’s start with what a styling paste actually is. Styling paste is a substance with a fibrous, solid yet non-sticky consistency, making it perfect for achieving well-defined looks that also have a natural, long-lasting finish. It is an excellent alternative to gel, which often tends to stiffen the hair; in fact, styling pastes are suitable for more natural hairstyles that still last all day long.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES?

Now let's talk about the differences between them, because Barberino’s offers three styling pastes, and each has been designed to achieve a different effect.

The Matt Paste is a matte-finish styling paste with a strong hold, ideal for creating and defining both tidy and messy looks while maintaining a natural effect.

The Matt Cream is a disciplining cream that also offers a matte finish, but it is slightly lighter than the Matt Paste. This allows you to restyle your look throughout the day, making it perfect for those with longer hair or for those who want a look that is as natural as possible while still appearing neat.

The Classic Pomade, is a true water-based wax that, in addition to helping you comb and tidy your hair, provides a glossy, high-impact finish.

HOW ARE THEY USED?

Applying all three styling pastes is very simple; just follow a few easy steps.

  1. Take a small amount of product; it is always better not to overdo it, because you can always add more, but you can’t take it away.
  2. Warm the product between your hands before applying it so that it becomes softer and easier to work with.
  3. It is preferable to always apply styling pastes to dry hair, or at most to damp hair—be careful not to apply them to wet hair!
  4. Proceed with the application; you can choose whether to apply it directly to your whole head or to individual strands. There is no need to use a comb, as your fingers are enough—except for the Classic Pomade if you want to comb your hair back to achieve, for example, a wet look, as we explained in another one of our articles.

Extra tip: styling pastes are also great for disciplining and defining curly hair. The important thing is to apply a small amount of product, otherwise you risk weighing the curls down, as we explained in our article on curly hair care.
