Summer: how to take care of your skin, beard, and hair

Our master barbers share with you some tips for skin, beard, and hair care during the warmer months.

Summer is just around the corner, and as temperatures rise and sun exposure increases, the body's needs change—and consequently, how you take care of it.

Skin and hair, just like your beard, are subject not only to hormonal or psychophysical changes, but also environmental ones. That is why, especially during the summer, it is important to follow the right beauty routine to pamper and protect them, so you don't have to resort to drastic cuts and remedies when autumn arrives.

To best prepare for the new season, here are some valuable tips for taking care of your skin, beard, and hair over the coming months.

Keyword: hydration, from the inside and the outside

Hydration is essential for the health of your body and skin and must come both from the inside, by drinking plenty of water to rebalance your system after fluid loss, and from the outside, by choosing the products most suited to your needs.

Amoisturizer, preferably with a light texture, should be used even in summer and at least once a day after washing your face or shaving. Our advice is to apply it when the skin is still slightly damp: the benefits will last longer.

Pay attention to cleansing

In summer, due to increased perspiration, it is advisable to pay more attention to cleansing. Washing your face often helps keep it clean and prevents substances from sticking to and settling on the skin, which would then clog pores and cause acne, irritation, and breakouts.

For frequent washing, it is better to opt for gentle products that cleanse without causing further stress to the skin.

Never forget sun protection...

The sun can irreparably damage the skin and quickly lead to the appearance of signs of premature aging. Sunscreen should therefore be applied every morning—not just at the beach, but also in the city—as the final step in your beauty routine. Furthermore, if sun exposure is prolonged and intense, it would be best to reapply every two or three hours.

For those looking for a quick and practical solution, your best allies are moisturizing facial creams with SPF, i.e., with an integrated sun filter, preferably with anti-aging properties to help fight aging.

...even for hair and beard

Just like your skin, your hair also needs protection from the sun. An excellent way to take care of it is to apply a protective restructuring oil and, when washing, choose products containing Argan oil, coconut oil, or almond oil. For deeper nourishment, feel free to use linseed oil treatments or masks, leaving them to act before showering.

In the specific case of your beard, it is essential to maintain a daily routine of washing and nourishing. The ideal approach is to use, every morning, first a dedicated shampoo and then a nourishing and moisturizing conditioner, followed by an oil. These precautions will prevent heat and sun from damaging your beard hair.

How to maintain your tan

To maintain your tan, it is important to take care of your skin before and after sun exposure, nourishing it deeply with plant-based butters and oils. Attention should also be paid to your choice of body wash: preferably one that is gentle and based on moisturizing and soothing ingredients like calendula, aloe vera, and chamomile.

For your face, you can opt for a moisturizing sheet mask to apply in the evening after showering and sun exposure—a solution that will help reduce redness and prolong your tan while providing a feeling of comfort and deep nourishment.
