A beard for every neighborhood: a journey through Milan's grooming trends

On the occasion of Milan Fashion Week, which will bring Tortona and the other city neighborhoods to life, and to discover all the latest Milanese trends in men's looks, Simone Forini and Ivan Consolo, our Master Barbers, share a journey through the 6 most popular beard styles in the neighborhoods of Milan: 6 stylings, one for each area of the city, to imitate to keep up with the times.
City Center: "Imbruttito" Ducktail Beard
Perfect for any face shape, from round to oval, and for any occasion, the go-to beard for those who want to be in sync with Milan's City Center is the Ducktail Beard: elegant, but at the same time, bold. The secret to a striking look lies entirely in the volume: more accentuated on the jawline, with a goatee of at least 5-6 cm, and less on the cheeks, where the beard length is slightly shorter.
Where to find Barberino’s: via Cerva, 11 and Corso Magenta, 10.
Tortona: "Designer" extended goatee
The heart of the FuoriSalone and Milan Fashion Week, the Tortona district is one of the busiest and most frequented by locals and tourists alike, not only for its unique atmosphere but also for the events and nightlife that attract people of all ages. For this very reason, youthful beard styles can be seen on the faces of the neighborhood, such as the extended goatee, which is distinguished from the standard one by the presence of a mustache or sideburns and hair on the cheeks and under the chin, but with a shorter length compared to the lip and chin area.

Isola and Lambrate: the Hipster beard
Isola is a unique neighborhood: an area that is a bit hipster and a bit bohemian, a place where the most authentic vintage blends with modernity. In Milan's trendiest environment, the most fashionable beard is undoubtedly the Hipster, a style that keeps up with the times but gives a nod to the past. It is fundamental to let the beard grow naturally for at least six months, without forgetting to care for it to avoid a frizzy effect and to keep the hair healthy.

Quadrilatero della moda: corporate beard
Known all over the world for its luxury boutiques, the Quadrilatero della moda is bordered by four prestigious streets — via Montenapoleone, via Manzoni, via della Spiga and Corso Venezia — and is one of the best areas in Milan when it comes to shopping. For this reason, it is often frequented by classy men with a somewhat groomed style and businessmen who sport well-maintained and elegant beards, such as the corporate beard. As the name suggests, this style is perfect for those who want to look tidy in a work environment, and for this reason, its length should not be excessive.

Porta Romana: Hollywoodian beard
Porta Romana is known for having become the residential neighborhood par excellence, a hub for the lives of university students and young professionals. Once chosen by the local nobility, today it has entered the collective imagination as a neighborhood effervescent with culture and lightheartedness, and for this very reason, the habitués of the area often sport beards with a more creative style, such as the Hollywoodian beard, suitable for people looking for a more sophisticated but, at the same time, fashionable style.
Where to find Barberino’s: Corso di Porta Romana, 55.

City Life: Stubble, or "3-day beard"
The City Life area is among the most frequented and lively in the city, always populated thanks in part to the recent creation of the largest urban shopping district in our country. Here, the most widespread trend is the Stubble Beard, also called a "3-day beard": a simple yet groomed style, suitable for everyone and where nothing is left to chance. For an impeccable styling, in fact, it is not enough to let the beard grow for a couple of days; it is essential to take care of it by cleaning the edges to avoid an unkempt effect and by trimming the length to between 1.5 and 3 millimeters.
Where to find Barberino’s: Piazza Tre Torri, inside the Coin Excelsior CityLife Shopping District.
