Summer beard care: here’s what to do!

In winter, a long beard is a point of pride, worn with pleasure at work and in your free time; however, in summer the situation seems to flip: the beard becomes an unbearable burden, and many look back with nostalgia at their dear old razor.

Today we have some great news for you: with a few small adjustments, not only will wearing a long beard in summer no longer be annoying, but by September you will find yourself ahead of the game and ready to show off a healthier, thicker beard at the office!

Beards and sun: here is what you need to know
Summer means vacation, and vacation means the sea and the sun.

During the hot season, a beard acts as a sort of "insulator": it causes more skin irritation and brings more heat than expected. The sea and sun exposure contribute to worsening this discomfort: ultraviolet rays also tend to damage the keratin, weakening the hair shaft, while salt water gives your beard an unpleasant frizzy effect!

Beards in summer: how to manage them

  • If you go to the beach or the pool, rinse your beard with plenty of fresh water even several times a day: this way, you will eliminate impurities and salt residues. You can use a non-aggressive beard shampoo once or twice a week.
  • Hydrate it during the day with a delicate beard balm: the Barberino’s Beard Balm, rich in natural oils and linoleic acid (known for its high moisturizing and protective power), does not degrade, does not cause a thermal reaction on the skin, and has excellent penetrating power.
  • Nourish it at night with a specific oil: the Barberino’s Argan Oil, rich in natural extracts and essential oils, allows the beard to regenerate after the stress caused by the sun and hydrates it, also acting on the skin underneath; its light fragrance also enhances the feeling of well-being.
  • Comb it… With a brush! Avoid a comb and opt for a convenient and functional brush with boar or mixed boar/synthetic bristles: this way you won't pull out your beard hairs, and it will remain full and voluminous.
  • Don't forget the barber! If you let your beard grow wild, it will be harder to tolerate during the summer: keep visiting your barber to reduce its volume and take care of it!
We remind you that our Barberino’s shops won't abandon you in the summer either: we will remain open every day to take care of your beloved beard!
