Ever since Barberino’s came under the management of the Peaky Blinders, our barbers have studied and adapted the haircuts of England’s most dangerous and fascinating gang. Here is a guide to choosing your favorite style or the one that suits you best, so you’ll know exactly what to ask for at our barbershop!
THE UNDERCUT PAR EXCELLENCE: THOMAS SHELBY’S STYLE
The Undercut is a haircut that never goes out of style; it’s a must from the past, the present, and forever! Perfect for those who love shaved sides but don’t want to sacrifice volume, the undercut features shaved sides with longer hair on top. It’s a short haircut that isn't the typical buzz cut, and it is highly appreciated by gentlemen for its practical benefits without compromising on elegance. Here is everything you need to know to get a similar cut: on the sides and at the nape of the neck, a clean shave is performed, though you can also opt for a fade, which can vary between 0 and 3 mm depending on the desired result. The cut can be interpreted in several ways: without a part, with a side part, or even with a center part, a style typical of the 1920s. The key to getting the look exactly like Thomas Shelby is to keep the hair on top short enough that it doesn't fall over the sides, but long enough to use a styling product to achieve a natural, messy effect—brushed forward and with a slight sweep to the side.
HOW TO STYLE LIKE THOMAS SHELBY
To achieve a more tousled effect, our barbers suggest spraying sea salt spray onto damp hair and then blow-drying it on medium heat and intensity. To perfect Thomas Shelby’s undercut, you can use a matte styling paste like Matt Paste to shape the hair and create volume, whether you want a neater look or something more tousled, depending on how you choose to style it. To apply it, simply warm a dollop of styling paste in your hands and apply it to dry hair—all over for a messier effect, or on individual strands for a more controlled look.
Alternatively, you could use a disciplining cream like the Matt Cream, which is perfect for giving hair shape, taming it, and keeping it neat throughout the day. This type of product should be applied to damp or dry hair throughout the entire head.
To get the Thomas Shelby effect, simply comb your hair forward after these steps and, if you like, sweep it to one side to create the signature side-fringe effect.
This haircut is perfect for more defined face shapes, for example, those with a diamond face shape.

HOW TO STYLE LIKE ARTHUR SHELBY
Arthur Shelby’s haircut is also an undercut, a style highly favored by all the gentlemen of the 1920s. The difference from Thomas’s cut lies in the length of the hair on top, which is left longer. Unlike Thomas, who wears his hair brushed forward, Arthur wears his slicked back for a polished, neat look. This look can be easily replicated using a medium-strong hold water-based wax like the Classic Pomade Glossy Finish. To apply it, simply take a dollop of product in your hands and apply it to damp or dry hair throughout the head; it is advisable to apply a little at a time, perhaps with the help of a comb.
HOW TO STYLE LIKE JOHN SHELBY
A combination of Tommy’s and Arthur’s cuts is John’s style; he sports an undercut crop, which is a shorter cut that requires less styling effort. To replicate this, simply ask your barber for an undercut crop with the sides and back shaved down to the skin, leaving the top long enough to be combed to the sides, but not long enough to be styled like Tommy’s.
The advantage of this cut is that it can be maintained daily without using many products, as the short hair will naturally stay in place. However, if you want a glossy effect, you can use the Classic Pomade Glossy Finish as in Arthur’s styling, or use the Matt Cream to keep the hair neater throughout the day.

HOW TO STYLE LIKE MICHAEL GRAY
Michael Gray is not a true Shelby, and for that reason, he doesn't sport their emblematic undercut. Michael Gray’s haircut is actually quite versatile and works with many styles, but there is one fundamental requirement: the side part. To replicate this look, simply ask your barber for a haircut with a side part typical of the 1920s and 30s. Be careful, however: if you want to replicate Michael’s look, ensure you ask your barber not to shave the sides of your head, but rather to use scissors and a comb. You can also ask your barber to follow your natural hair part and define it using a straight razor; this will make styling easier for you. To perfectly recreate the look, you need to maintain the length, tapering around the ears for a clean effect.
For daily styling, simply blow-dry your hair in the direction opposite to the part and comb it carefully, trying to keep the side part distinct. To keep it neat and give it a glossy finish, apply the Classic Pomade Glossy Finish, a medium-strong hold water-based wax; a dollop is all you need.
